President of European People's Party stresses his party's readiness to develop co-operation with Tunisian political forces

Joseph Daul, President of the European People's Party, expressed his interest in the experience of the Tunisian democratic transition and the importance of supporting it, underlining his party’s will to develop cooperation with national political forces by taking advantage of the great Experience of democratic anchoring in Europe.

Joseph Daul, who was received by President Béji Caied Essebssi on Tuesday at the Carthage palace asserted his party’s will to contribute to the success of the next municipal elections in Tunisia, which illustrate the basis of local democracy, considering that these are the most important challenges facing democracies in the world.

The President of the Republic asserted that the democratic choice made by Tunisia is irreversible, underlining the challenges facing the country in the construction of this process.

Béji Caied Essebssi also spoke about the ongoing preparations and efforts to succeed in the municipal elections. He praised the experience of co-operation between Tunisia and the European Union in this regard and commended any initiative to contribute to the success of this important local electoral stage, which is held for the first time in a democratic climate ", according to a statement of the Presidency of the Republic.

The European People's Party is one of the largest parties in Europe with seventy parties from forty European countries.
