(TAP) – The President of the Government Youssef Chahed will make a working visit to the Governorate of Sfax on Thursday.

The visit is purely economic, as important steps are expected to be taken to stimulate development and promote the environment in the region.

The visit also raises high hopes among the civil society of Sfax which is demanding solutions for the implementation of blocked projects and the fight against pollution in the southern coast of the governorate.

The civil society is also calling on the government to put an end to the crisis of "Petrofac" in Kerkennah and to address the crisis at the Industrial Company of Phosphoric Acid and Manures (French: SIAP) in Sfax.

Chafik Ayadi, MP representing Sfax I said the Prime Minister's visit is not timely, as it was scheduled after the adoption of the 2016-2020 Five-Year Development Plan, which, according to him, will perpetuate economic recession in the region.

Ayadi justified this recession by the absence of major investment projects and the lack of financial resources deemed necessary to boost development.
