(TAP)- The President of the Government Youssef Chahed ordered provisional 3-month sailing permits to 500 fishermen of Kerkennah Island so that they could make the most of the approaching shrimp fishing season, Minister of Social Affairs, Mohamed Trabelsi told TAP on Friday.

Trabelsi said that the 500 boats do not meet the standards of navigation, adding that The President of the Government has already called for the need to give a definitive authorisation of navigation to these fishermen.

Chahed also decided to set up identification centres at "kraten", "Sidi Youssef" and "El Ataya" fishing ports, the same source said.

It was also decided to create a resuscitation unit at the Kerkennah Regional Hospital. The PG has inaugurated the local headquarters of the National Pension Fund (CNRPS) and the National Health Insurance Fund (CNAM) so that the inhabitants of this island are no longer forced to go to Sfax to access the services of these establishments.

According to Trabelsi, Chahed has authorised the organisation throughout the year of night maritime shuttles between Sfax and Kerkennah, adding that, with the exception of the summer season, maritime traffic is suspended from 6 p.m.

He also inspected the site of the seawater desalination plant, which will be ready in 2019 with a capacity of 6 thousand m3 per day, said Trabelsi. The fishing port of Sidi Youssef whose cost is estimated at 36 million dinars will also be completed by the end of 2019.

The President of the Government Youssef Chahed started a two-day visit to Sfax yesterday.

He said on his arrival that measures will be taken in favour of this governorate which played a major role in the fight against French colonialism and the Revolution of January 14, 2011.
