Fight against corruption at heart of meeting between Chahed and signatories of Carthage Document

(TAP) – The President of the Government Youssef Chahed met on Friday with the signatories of Carthage Document.

The President of the Government stressed, on the occasion, that the war on corruption is not a temporary campaign but rather a policy with clear vision and a strategy, Secretary-General of the Al-Joumhouri Issam Chebbi told TAP after the meeting.

He added that Youssef Chahed has affirmed that the State, in its fight against corruption, has found support from the various national institutions and organisations.

President of Ennahdha movement Rached Ghannouchi said the meeting also reviewed the situation in El-Kamour in the governorate of Tataouine.

He pointed out that everything now indicates that the crisis will soon be resolved.

The government will remain committed to the dialogue and will take into account the difficult conditions of the local residents, he added.

Ghannouchi also said that PG’s economic adviser Taoufik Rajhi has presented a report on the progress of negotiations with the International Monetary Fund during the meeting.

The meeting took place in the presence of the presidents of the Al-Joumhouri, Ennahdha, Afek Tounes and Al-Moubadara, in addition to the S-G of the Tunisian General Labour Union, the President of the Tunisian Confederation of Industry, Trade and Handicrafts and the President of the Tunisian Union of Agriculture and Fisheries.

The security and economic situation in the country, the Tataouine file and the government's anti-corruption policy were on the agenda.
