(TAP) - 21 customs officers of various ranks and functions were relieved of their duties and removed from their "sensitive" positions and 35 other agents of the Tunisian Customs are brought before the Council of Honour of the Customs, the Finance Ministry announced on Wednesday.

Investigations are underway concerning alleged corruption of other agents, the source added in a statement.

The decision comes just after Wednesday morning's visit by The President of the Government Youssef Chahed to the Port of Radès, where he inspected the port stevedoring, handling and management services.

Chahed found a saddening situation during the visit and expressed his displeasure at the operation of the "Scanner" control unit of containers at the port and criticised the delay in carrying out clearance operations.
