PG orders opening of investigation into causes of fire in port of Rades

(TAP) – The President of the Government Youssef Chahed, on Wednesday ordered an investigation into the causes of the fire that took place on Wednesday afternoon at the port of Rades, said an official source at the The Presidency of the Government, adding that Chahed has instructed the ministers of the Interior, Finance and Transport to oversee the investigation.

Director of the commercial port of Rades, Houcine Jallouli said the fire broke out at a customs warehouse belonging to a company located in the port.

"No human damage has been recorded, but the material damage is quite significant, as the fire destroyed the whole building, which caused its collapse," he said, adding that the causes of the fire are still unknown.

The fire broke out after the unexpected visit by The President of the Government where he inquired about the various operations of container loading and unloading, as well as scanning operations.
