(TAP) – President Béji Caid Essebsi, Speaker of House of Peoples’ Representatives (HPR) Mohamed Ennaceur and The President of the Government Youssef Chahed performed Sunday morning the Eid al-Fitr prayer at the Malek Ibn Anas mosque in Carthage.

On this occasion, the President of the Republic delivered an address in which he offered his best wishes to the Tunisian people both at home and abroad as well as to all Muslims across the world.

He also extended within the framwork of the current crisis in the Gulf region, a "special" message to the Tunisian community living in these countries and to “the brothers of the Gulf region,” expressing “confidence in the wisdom of the leaders of this region’s countries and their capacity to overcome the current differences.”

“Ramadan this year had gone well in Tunisia both at the security and economic levels,” he pointed out, commending “the efforts of security and military forces who have been accumulating success in their war against the cowardly terrorism,” that had costed the life of shepherd Khalifa Soltani and Lieutenant Mejdi Hajlaoui who died on Saturday at the Ben Arous Trauma and Severe Burns Centre after suffering severe burns on June 22 during violent clashes in Bir Lahfey (sidi Bouzid).

The Head of the State hailed the efforts exerted by the National Unity Government which “has so far managed to revive a positive growth rate in the country, restore certain optimism and gain the confidence of Tunisians in the State’s institutions, notably in light of the latest anti-corruption measures that should continue, get reinforced and earn a broad national consensus,” he estimated.
