(TAP) -"The International Organisation of La Francophonie (IOF) wants to implement a plan of enhanced cooperation with Tunisia that rests on pure pragmatism," Secretary-General Michaëlle Jean said following her meeting Thursday with The President of the Government Youssef Chahed.

This cooperation plan will seek to build up skills and capacities and strengthen education and training policies and schemes geared towards youths so that they can be better aligned with the labour market needs.

The idea is to "really support job creation and strategies devised to secure local development and the economic revitalisation of local communities and strengthen entrepreneurship among youths, men and women, " Michaëlle Jean indicated.

The IOF will make support available for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) as well as small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs), said the SG.

The organisation is keen to set up incubation mechanisms for SMEs and SMBs in Tunisia that will serve as collaborative spaces for young entrepreneurs. The experience was already conducted in 13 African countries, Michaëlle Jean highlighted.

Michaëlle Jean, who is paying an official visit to Tunisia on June 28 June- July 1, said delegations from the Directorate of the Economic and Digital Francophonie, the Directorate of Education and the Institutions of the Francophonie for Education and Training (IFEF) will visit Tunisia to discuss the education and training strategy in Arabic and French and increase the capacities of teachers and strengthen educational programmes and curricula.

She also said means to foster inclusive economic growth across the country were discussed at the meeting.
