Ways to strengthen Tunisia-US co-operation discussed as Chahed meets US Congressional delegation

(TAP) – Prime Minister Youssef Chahed received, Tuesday in Kasbah, a delegation of the U.S. House of Representatives led by Chairman of House Appropriations Committee Rodney Frelinghuysen.

The meeting discussed ways to strengthen co-operation between Tunisia and the United States, particularly in the security, economic and financial fields, a Prime Ministry press release reads.

On the occasion, Chahed commended the excellent level reached by bilateral co-operation in the fight against terrorism and ways to tackle this cross-border phenomenon, highlighting both countries’ willingness to work together to end the scourge of terrorism.

For their part, the US congressmen expressed their support to the national unity government’s efforts in its fight against corruption, calling to carry on action so as to establish a business climate conducive to foreign investment.

The PM will pay an official visit to the United States on July 9-12 at the invitation of Donald Trump’s Administration where he will have meetings with US senior officials on the political, economic and security situation in the country.
