(TAP) – The national employment strategy (NES) which formulating process was launched on Tuesday, aims to find efficient solutions to unemployment issues, reduce disparities between regions and social categories, use existing employment opportunities and create value-added jobs by promoting natural and human resources in Tunisia, The President of the Government Youssef Chahed affirmed.

“I am counting on the stakeholders’ patriotism and responsible spirit to preserve the process of the national consensus and the participatory approach the country has adopted in several occasions and I am convinced that we will together formulate and implement this strategy that will help meet the current generations’ expectations and the upcoming phase’s needs,” he said as he chaired the launch ceremony of the NES formulating process.

The government, who is aware of this phase’s challenges, remains committed to dialogue and consultation with social partners during the preparation, implementation and evaluation of development policies so as to strengthen the foundations of social peace and promote an environment conducive to investment and creation of decent jobs as part of a comprehensive vision that places employment at the heart of all sector-based policies.

Despite the importance of different initiatives taken to boost employment, job opportunities remain insufficient as these initiatives were not backed by a comprehensive vision based on a new working culture, the Premier added.

Chahed highlighted Tunisia’s adherence to the International Labour Organisation (ILO)’s directions and its willingness to enshrine the principles and objectives it is working to achieve in order to strengthen the attributes of decent work and sustainable development, reduce disparities between regions and social categories and re-promote work as a human and civilisational value.
