(TAP) - The President of the Government Youssef Chahed chaired on Tuesday at Kasbah Palace a small Cabinet meeting dedicated to the review of the civil service reform strategy and the programme of voluntary redundancy for civil servants, said a statement from the Prime Ministry.

Public servants who will register to this voluntary redundancy programme will receive a bonus as compensation.

The bill regulating the programme will be discussed at a next Cabinet meeting, the statement added.

The voluntary redundancy programme for public servants is part of the strategy of modernisation of the administration and rationalisation of its human and financial resources, said the same source.

The Chahed government intends to ease the financial burden of public servants by promoting the early retirement of about 120 thousand of them by 2020, a source close to the Prime Ministry had told TAP in the course of this month.
