(TAP) – Speaker of the House of People's Representatives Mohamed Ennaceur said he and Prime Minister Youssef Chahed, on Wednesday, agreed to speed up issuing decrees implementing the laws adopted by the Parliament so that they can enter into force as soon as possible.

"The role of the parliament is not limited to the adoption of bills, but also extends to monitoring their implementation," Ennaceur said at a press briefing at the end of a working session with The President of the Government.

Mohamed Ennaceur said this working session dedicated to the assessment of the last parliamentary session is part of the policy of complementarity between government and parliamentary actions in terms of legislation and oversight.

The two parties also agreed to ensure that bills introduced by the Prime Ministry include documents and data required to facilitate the work of committees and inform MPs of prior debates and discussions with civil society and social actors, said the Parliament speaker.

He added that the parliament will hold monthly hearings with government members and plans, inter alia, quarterly working sessions with the government.
