(TAP)- The House of People's Representatives (HPR) gave confidence to the nominees of Prime Minister Youssef Chahed for the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Industry and Small and Medium-sized Enterprises, Imed Hammami and Slim Feriani respectively, at a plenary session held Friday.

One hundred and thirty MPs voted for, while seventeen voted against and three abstained.

At the opening of the plenary session, Premier Youssef Chahed said Imed Hammami was picked to fill the vacancy left after the death of former minister Slim Chaker; Slim Feriani is taking over from Hammami at the helm of the Industry and SMEs Ministry. He also outlined the academic record and the career path of both ministers.

"Cabinet shake-ups are not desirable," Chahed said. Political, social and security stability is a precondition for attaining the government's socio-economic targets by 2020.

Political stability hinges on a better general situation; political wrangling is now above the level of tolerance which explains the prevailing unhealthy climate, he said.

While reaffirming commitment to Carthage Document and its priorities, particularly the fight against corruption, Chahed urged politicians and national forces to close ranks and prioritise the country's higher interests.

The HPR Bureau decided to hold a plenary session on Friday for the vote of confidence in the appointees of Youssef Chahed after Nov. 18 partial cabinet reshuffle.
