(TAP) - President Béji Caïd Essebsi called at a meeting with Prime Minister Youssef Chahed on Thursday at Carthage Palace for the need to make the necessary arrangements to protect the purchasing power of Tunisians and strengthen efforts to fight corruption and smuggling.

The meeting discussed the general situation in the country, in particular, at the social and economic levels, said a statement from the Presidency of the Republic.

Caid Essebsi and Chahed also reviewed the new provisions adopted Thursday by the Higher Export Council to boost Tunisia’s exports and reduce the country's trade deficit
