(TAP) - Prime Minister Youssef Chahed met, on Tuesday at the Government Palace in Kasbah, with Italian Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Co-operation Angelino Alfano.

The Italian FM reaffirmed the close links between the two countries.

"Italy stands with Tunisia and supports its political and economic process," he pointed out.

He commended the efforts of the Tunisian government to promote legislation favouring a climate conducive to investment in Tunisia, including the Investment Code.

While referring to the 852 Italian companies operating in Tunisia in various sectors of industry, commerce and services, the Italian Minister of Foreign Affairs welcomed the creation of appropriation conditions encouraging Italian investors.

Alfano was quoted in a Prime Ministry statement as saying that the success of Tunisia’s democratic transition is crucial for the stability of the Mediterranean area.
