(TAP) – Several agreements, memoranda of understanding (MoU) and financing memoranda in several sectors were signed at the end of the 8th session of Tunisian-Spanish High-Level Meeting held on Monday at the Kasbah Palace.

The signing ceremony was co-chaired by Prime Minister Youssef Chahed and his Spanish counterpart Mariano Rajoy Brey.

Here follows the list of agreements inked during this meeting:

- Agreement in the security field, particularly in the fight against organised crimes

- Partnership agreement in the higher education and scientific research field

- Declaration of Intent in the culture field

- Partnership agreement in the agriculture, water, environment and climate change fields

- MoU on partnership in the IT and Communication fields

- Draft partnership agreement between the Export Promotion Centre (CEPEX) and its Spanish opposite number

- MoU in the vocational training field

- Partnership agreement in the civil protection field

- MoU on partnership in the area of combating violence against women

In his remarks during the ceremony, Chahed said the previous session was held some ten years ago (2008).

This meeting, held under the sign of an innovative and strategic partnership, is an opportunity to boost Tunisian-Spanish bilateral partnership in all fields, he pointed out.

Chahed added that “this high-level meeting was crowned by a joint declaration to promote Tunisian-Spanish co-operation in all fields”.

Tunisia has initiated a process of major economic reforms and good governance, he noted.

The Spanish PM highlighted, in turn, his country’s support to the democratic and economic transition process.

Combating terrorism is now a priority as it has affected all countries, he pointed out.
