Phosphate: Cabinet meeting commends gradual resumption of production and transport, decides holding regional council in Gafsa

(TAP) – The cabinet meeting, held on Thursday, commended the gradual return of phosphate production and transport in the mining basin, "which marks a resumption of the company's activities," said a statement of the Prime Ministry.

The meeting, chaired by Prime Minister Youssef Chahed in Dar Dhiafa in Carthage, reaffirmed the government's determination to fulfill its commitments to the governorate of Gafsa, concerning the acceleration of the pace of economic, social and employment development, with an approach based on positive discrimination and the establishment of a new relationship between the company and its social environment, the statement said.

He agreed in this regard to hold a regional development council in the region next week chaired by the Minister of Finance, the source said.

The Cabinet meeting has adopted three bills. The first concerns the closure of the 2015 State Budget, the second on the approval of a loan agreement signed on January 25, 2018 between the Tunisian Republic and the African Development Bank (AfDB) to consolidate the road link the northeast, and the third on the protection of personal data.

It also adopted three draft government decrees. The first concerns the creation of the function of military administrative intermediary within the Ministry of National Defense, the second concerns the creation of the international centre of culture and arts "Kasr Abdellia" and the third on the completion of the decree number 2520 of 2013 creating the "international cultural centre of Hammamet, the Mediterranean House of Culture and Arts".

The cabinet meeting also adopted a draft government decree on the creation of the Jomine local hospital, a draft government decree on the creation of a local hospital in Cherarda, another decree partially revising the provisions of Decree number 499 of 2010 providing for the expropriation for public utility of a plot of land located in the governorate of Gabes necessary for the construction of the Sfax-Gabès motorway and a draft government decree on the expropriation for public utility of a land in the governorate of Sfax necessary for the doubling of GP 1 between Tina and Maharès.

Finally, it approved a draft government decree on the adoption of a symbolic dinar sale of a plot of land located in Wadi Mliz in the governorate of Jendouba
