Handicrafts and Traditional Dress Days: Chahed presents 2017 Handicrafts and Arts Promotion Prizes

(TAP) - As part of the celebration of the Handcrafts and Traditional Dress Days , craftsman Mohammed Ben Taher Al Mhiri received Friday the national award for the promotion of arts and crafts for the year 2017, in the field of jewelery and silverware, while the national prize for young craftsmen was awarded to Mohamed Belhadj Rhouma, craftsman specialising in traditional pottery.

These two awards were presented by Prime Minister Youssef Chahed, during a ceremony held at the Kasbah during which he paid tribute to a number of artisans, in the presence of the Minister of Tourism and Handicrafts, Salma Elloumi.

Several government members traveled to the various governorates to implement the national plan for development of the handicrafts sector, launched during the recent visit by the Prime Minister to Tozeur.

The Minister of Tourism recalled in this context that the State has allocated 55 million Dinars (MD) for the implementation of this plan, over the next 5 years. She added that the aim is to restructure the handicraft sector, the traditional national dress and the artisanal product
