Chahed calls on governors to identify measures for benefit of poor people

(TAP) - Prime Minister Youssef Chahed urged on Saturday governors to identify measures for the benefit of poor people, especially as the government is currently working on the preparation of the 2019 draft State budget.

Chairing the opening of the Conference of Governors at the Aouina National Guard barracks, Chahed invited the governors to present proposals to facilitate their work in relation to citizens and the central government.

According to the PM, the follow-up of the citizens' concerns calls for a focus on the new school and university year, identifying the measures needed to improve the citizen's purchasing power and achieving a higher growth rate in the regions.

On another note, Chahed reported a noteworthy improvement in the security situation in the country, due to the readiness of the security forces and the army.

He also pointed out that the economic situation has also recorded a clear improvement, especially with regard to the indicators of the budget deficit control and the growth rate.

Taking the floor, Interior Minister Hichem Fourati said that the Conference of Governors will discuss such important topics as price control, economic control, investment, the advancement of public projects and preparations for the start of school and university. According to him, 2019 will be the year of all challenges.
