(TAP) - "Tunisia is ready for more comprehensive strategic partnership in the energy and electricity sector, in addition to the reactivation of strategic infrastructure projects (railways and highways) and the development of border regions, through the creation of an economic free trade zone in Ben Guerdane, said Prime Minister Youssef Chahed on Thursday when kicking off the 1st Tunisian-Libyan Economic Forum.

Chahed also underscored the Tunisian Government's commitment to strengthen trade between the two countries in all sectors, including services and to guarantee a business climate that encourages investment and boosts trade in strategic high-profitability sectors.

Moreover, the Prime Minister affirmed Tunisia's solidarity with the Libyan people and their legitimate institutions in fight against security threats and its support to the UN efforts and those of the Libyan Government of National Accord that had absorbed the last crisis in Tripoli by implementing the security measures decided by the political agreement.

Chahed added that the Tunisian government had been keen to revive the work of the Tunisian-Libyan high joint commission, specifying that he will meet his Libyan counterpart Fayez Sarraj very soon after the preparatory meetings in December 2017 and June 2018.

Works of the 1st edition of the Tunisian-Libyan Economic Forum kicked off on Thursday in Tunis, in the presence of about 100 of Tunisian and Libyan businessmen.

Held at the initiative of Tunisia Africa Business Council (TABC), the meeting also seeks through its high-level panels to provide a better industrial and economic rapprochement between Tunisia and Libya and the necessary support to boost co-operation, trade and investments between over 200 Tunisian and Libyan businessmen
