Cabinet meeting under chairmanship of Prime Minister

(TAP) - The Cabinet meeting met on Wednesday at El Kasbah Palace, under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Youssef Chahed, in the presence of the newly appointed ministers and secretaries of state.

The meeting reviewed the government's action plan and its priorities for the next period and passed organic bills, said a statement from the Prime Ministry.

At the opening of the meeting, Prime Minister Youssef Chahed emphasised the need to preserve the citizens’ purchasing power and take the necessary measures to control prices, reduce the trade deficit, improve the competitiveness of the economy and boost investment and foreign trade.

In addition, Chahed underscored the importance of government solidarity and inter-departmental co-ordination in order to speed up the decision-making process.

In this regard, he called on government members to focus on priority issues to address economic, social and security challenges.

On another level, the Cabinet meeting said it respected the right to strike and peaceful assembly in accordance with the provisions of the Constitution.

According to the same statement, the meeting approved three bills.

They are:

- Draft Law on Approval of the Amended Treaty Establishing the Community of Sahel-Saharan States (CEN-SAD)

- Draft organic law on the approval of the agreement on Tunisia’s accession to the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA).

- Draft organic law approving Tunisia’s accession to the UN Agreement Concerning the Adoption of Uniform Conditions for Periodical Technical Inspections of Wheeled Vehicles and the Reciprocal Recognition of Such Inspections
