(TAP) – Prime Minister Youssef Chahed, on Thursday, inaugurated the regional cancer treatment centre in Jendouba.

The center, made with an investment of 60 million dinars, will bring health care closer to the inhabitants of the northwestern governorates and alleviate the suffering of patients who must travel to the capital Tunis and the governorate of the Ariana to receive the necessary care and have access to their medicines, Chahed said at the opening of this centre, in the presence of interim Health Minister Sonia Bescheikh

High-tech equipment has been mobilised for this centre to treat all types of cancerous tumours, added Chahed.

The center will open early June 2019, Sonia Becheikh told TAP, recalling that the Ministry of Health is currently working on the mobilisation of medics and paramedics to provide necessary care.

This is a new health facility that will help ease the influx of patients to the Salah Azaiez Institute in the capital, said Bescheik, pointing out that doctors from other centres are committed to providing the necessary technical support to help the entire centre team when needed
