38 drinking water supply projects will be carried out in Sidi Bouzid

(TAP) – The small Cabinet meeting held Tuesday and dedicated to the governorate of Sidi Bouzid decided the launch of works for the achievement of 38 drinking water supply projects in the region that will benefit about 67 thousand people.

Other measures were taken at this meeting, including the implementation of a project to adapt to climate change in the locality of Rihana, Regueb delegation and Laayoun of the Cebala delegation, with funding of 30 million dinars (MD), granted by the French Development Agency (AFD).

Works for the realisation of the agricultural and rural development project around the hilly lakes in the locality of Zâafria will also be launched, thanks to financing estimated at 10 MD from the German KFW Development Bank.

The meeting also approved the implementation of the "integrated hydraulic development" component within the framework of an integrated agricultural development project in seven delegations: Eastern Sidi Bouzid, Western Sidi Bouzid, Souk El Jedid, Jelma, Ouled Haffuz, Regueb and Bir El Hefay.

The cost of this project is estimated at 2 MD. Studies will be launched in parallel for the development of 300 km of farm tracks.

A budget of 330,000 dinars will be also dedicated for the maintenance of pumping stations and irrigation networks, as well as to acquire water meters in the various delegations of Sidi Bouzid by 2020.

Other projects will be carried out, including the equipment and electrification of deep wells in several regions, as well as the drilling of a deep well at the Menzel Bouzaiene delegation and the construction of an irrigated area with treated water in the delegation of Mezzouna
