(TAP) - The government has decided at the end of a small Cabinet meeting held Tuesday to begin construction of the university hospital of Sidi Bouzid at an estimated cost of 220 million dinars, as part of the implementation of a project funded by the French Development Agency (AFD).

The decision is part of a list of 95 measures taken by the small Cabinet meeting for the benefit of the governorate of Sidi Bouzid, said a statement from the Prime Ministry.

It was agreed at this meeting chaired by Prime Minister Youssef Chahed to earmark 53 million dinars for the development of the local hospitals of Regueb and Meknessi delegations and 52.3 million dinars for the construction of a regional hospital in the delegation of Jelma, which is expected to be completed by the end of 2020.

With regard to local hospitals and basic health centres in the Sidi Bouzid region, the government has decided to provide them with the necessary medical equipment before the end of the current year and to create 39 medical resident positions as part of strengthening of specialty medicine in the region.

It was also decided to separate, administratively, the hospitals of Meknessi and Menzel Bouzayen and to appoint a director to head this hospital.

In order to ensure the continuity of services (24/24) in local hospitals, the government decided to increase the human resources of these health facilities by authorizing the recruitment of 88 paramedics.

The meeting also approved the reinforcement of the car fleet by mobilising 12 ambulances, 11 service vehicles and 1 4x4 vehicle and decided to initiate the procedures for modernising the basic health centre of the delegation of Sidi Ali Ben Aoun and creating a mobile emergency unit in the Regueb local hospital
