Prime Minister delegates his powers to Minister of Public Service until end of election campaign [Upd 1]

(TAP) - Prime Minister and candidate for President Youssef Chahed, on Thursday, announced his decision to delegate his powers to Minister of Public Service, Modernisation of the Administration and public Policies Kamel Morjane until the end of the election campaign on September 13.

In remarks on Wataniya 1 TV channel, Chahed said he has made this decision, in accordance with the provisions of Article 92 of the Constitution.

In this context, he pointed out that the Constitution allows the incumbent Prime Minister to stand for presidential election, while delegating his powers to one of the ministers

Chahed added that he has made this decision "out of conviction” and in order to win the trust of Tunisian voters" with its own means and thanks to its supporters".

Youssef Chahed is vying for the September 15 presidential election with 25 other candidates, whose nominations have been approved by the Independent High Authority for the Elections (ISIE).

It should be recalled that Kamel Morjane is chairman of the National Council of the Tahya Tounes party headed by Youssef Chahed
