President of Republic, PM plant olive tree in El Manar campus on National Tree Day

(TAP) - President Kais Saied and Prime Minister Youssef Chahed, on Sunday, planted an olive tree at El Manar campus, on National Tree Day.

Two students and two children also planted two olive trees.

Said stressed the need to protect forests, promote afforestation, expand green areas and care for them, according to a Presidency press release.

He also emphasised the importance of involving citizens in the preservation of forests and addressing all forms of aggression against them.

 The President of the Republic was also briefed through data about the expansion of reforestation, pastoral planting and the most important direct and indirect forest products.

For his part, the Director-General of the Forestry Department has provided data on the forest centres in the country and the shortcomings they face due to the decline in the number of technicians.

The Mayor of Tunis also presented data on the municipality's interventions in the area of ​​green spaces and parks in partnership with civil society and the programme of garden development in the region.
