(TAP) - "I will not be part of the next government," caretaker Prime Minister Youssef Chahed said on Tuesday.

In a statement to the media on the sidelines of Tunisair Express's receipt of the first "ATR 72-600" aircraft called "BULLAREGIA", Chahed said he met on Monday with Prime Minister-designate Habib Jemli, stressing that the meeting focused on the major challenges facing Tunisia in 2020.

These challenges concern, in his view, the security aspect, in particular the fight against terrorism, as well as the social situation and public enterprises, considering that his government has managed to overcome the critical phase in public finances.

He added that the government is expecting a budget deficit of 3% under the 2020 Finance Act.

Chahed also said that the meeting also provided an opportunity to take stock of the outgoing government's positive record, referring to the Nawara gas field projects, the exceptional olive harvest and the successful summer season.

Prime Minister Habib Jamli began official consultations on Tuesday in Dar Dhiafa in Carthage to form the next government
