Fellow citizens,
By virtue of the provisions of Article 56 of the Constitution which stipulates that, in case of his temporary inability, the President of the Republic could decree to delegate his functions to the Prime Minister.
Given the President of the Republic's inability to exercise his duties, I, starting from now, have taken over the position of President of the Republic.
I call on all sons and daughters of Tunisia, from all political and intellectual stripes, and all categories and regions, to show their patriotic sense and their unity to help the homeland, so dear to us all, overcome this difficult stage and restore its security and stability.
I pledge myself, during this period of my duties, to respect the Constitution and implement, with rigor, the political, economic and social reforms that have been announced, in consultation with all national sides, political parties, national organizations and components of civil society.
May God lead us to success."
