January 29, 2010 - TAP - Education Minister and official spokesman for the interim government Taieb Baccouche underlined that the Tunisian Revolution provides a model for the peoples fighting for democracy and human rights.
He added that it is a revolution of youths who managed, by means of peaceful demonstrations, to overthrow dictatorship and pave the way for building an “authentic rule of law and institutions.”
He specified, during a talk on Saturday January 29, 2010 with a delegation from the High Commissariat for Human Rights (HCHR) led by Mr. Bacre Ndiaye, that the victims among the demonstrators and units of the Army and police are the results of schemes carried out by the militia of the ousted president who spread disorder and terror. But the people confronted this criminal plan and mobilized all its components in favor of the edification of society of freedom and dignity.
The Minister asserted that investigation on these crimes is under way and all suspects involved will be brought to justice. He pointed out that the mission of the interim government consists in meeting the people’s claims and guaranteeing normal operation of State institutions and the administration, in addition to preparing a platform for practicing democracy to which the people aspires.
Members of the HCHR delegation voiced support to the democratic transfer in Tunisia, underlining that their visit is part of follow-up of the situation and examination of means to develop the human rights system and preparations for transparent elections.
