February 12, 2011 - TAP - The information authority, whose creation was announced during the Cabinet meeting of last January 10, would replace the Higher Communication Council, after consultations with the various stakeholders and civil society components, an authorized source from the Prime Ministry specified.
This structure should be adapted to the requirements of the new stage in Tunisia, regarding "independence, rules of exercising the profession of journalism and consecrating the attributes of the freedom of speech and pluralism", the same source specified.
It added that the professional code of ethics remains fundamentally the responsibility of the sector's professionals.
