Turkish Foreign Minister and Head of Europe Council expected next Monday in Tunisia

February 17, 2011 - TAP - Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu and Council of Europe Secretary General Thorbjorn Jagland are expected in Tunisia next Monday to look at means to support democratic reforms, announced on Thursday the Turkish Foreign Ministry.
"The Council of Europe is the most competent institution in matters of experience in the fields of democracy and rule of law", the Ministry said in a statement.
"The aim of this visit is to look at possibilities of providing support in matters of institutions and expertise (...) as part of the Tunisian process of democratic transition", it added.
Turkey is currently chairing the Council of Europe.
Tunisia has joined in 2010 the Venice Commission, a consultative body of the Council of Europe competent IN ISSUES OF constitutional reforms, and has recently gained ''partnership status ''at the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, says the statement.
