Italy supports Tunisia's historic process

February 19, 2011 - TAP - Italy's ambassador in Tunis Pietro Benassi underlined that his country supports the historic process the Tunisian people have chosen for themselves, commending their revolution for freedom, democracy and dignity.
During a meeting, on Saturday in Tunis, with Education Minister and official spokesman of the interim government Taieb Baccouche, Mr. Benassi said that Italy sends to Tunisia a very positive message, considering that this process is an important stage to boost co-operation between the two countries which are bound by longstanding ties and mutual interests.
He stressed, during the meeting, the attachment of the Italian enterprises, whose number stands at about 700 firms, to stay in Tunisia, and they are convinced that the post-Revolution investment climate will improve, that Tunisia represents thanks to its skills, human resources and its strategic location, the appropriate place to attract foreign investment.
He added that Italy had mobilized important credits for the education and culture sectors, voicing hope to boost Education Ministry's syllabuses.
In turn, Mr. Taieb Baccouche specified that the People's Revolution reflects the Tunisian people's deep awareness and their keenness to move forward on the path of building a democratic state based on freedom, justice and dignity.
