Expertise of UNICEF at Tunisia's disposal

February 24, 2011 - TAP - Education Minister Taieb Baccouche received, on Thursday February 24, 2011 in Tunis, Mrs. Maria Luisa Fornana, United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund (UNICEF) representative in Tunis.
Mrs. Maria Luisa Fornana reasserted UNICEF's support to the interim Government's efforts to achieve educational justice for all Tunisian children and mobilize all available human and material means to vitalize programs, notably those pertaining to the generalization of the preparatory-year training, to work out syllabuses of friendly schools to children and boost the integration schools map.
She underlined that UNICEF is attached to the issue of school dropping out and will put its expertise and means at Tunisia's disposal.
She suggested the holding, next May, of a forum on Tunisia to be devoted to looking at the school's role in strengthening the democratic transition.
In turn, the Education Minister said that it is necessary, at this transitional stage, to review syllabuses and school management methods in order to consecrate the values of citizenship, promote Human Rights, vitalize the elected councils and strengthen dialogue forums.
