February 25, 2011 - TAP - An Interior Ministry source said that a large number of protestors attacked, on Friday afternoon, premises of the ministry, in the Habib Bourguiba Avenue, in Tunis, hurling stones at the building and inside the ministry.
The attackers destroyed several cars in the parking lot, in the vicinity of the ministry, and smashed windows.
The same sources said, in a telephone conversation with Tunis Afrique Press (TAP) news agency, that the home security forces and units of the national army "tried to disperse the protestors by firing warning shots and tear-gas canisters, in vain, as the demonstrators doggedly tried to invade the ministry premises".
