Switzerland is ready to provide aid to prevent humanitarian crisis on Tunisian-Libyan border

March 2, 2011- TAP - Switzerland is ready to provide assistance to Tunisia to prevent that the humanitarian situation at the Tunisian-Libyan border deteriorates as a result of the flow of refugees from Libya, said Mr. Marcel Stutz, Swiss deputy secretary of state for Africa and the Middle East, during his talk, on Wednesday in Tunis, with Social Affairs Minister Mohamed Naceur, on the occasion of his working visit in Tunisia.
Mr. Stutz added that experts have been dispatched to the Tunisian-Libyan border zone to identify the needed intervention actions and assistance convoys, in close collaboration with the Tunisian government, Tunisia's Red Crescent, the International Red Crescent Committee and the International Organization for Migration.
The talk provided the opportunity to discuss means to boost partnership in the political, economic and social fields.
The Swiss official underlined that his country puts its expertise at Tunisia's disposal to make a success of the democratic transition and contribute in the achievement of the targets of the Tunisian People's Revolution.
The talk was attended by Swiss ambassador to Tunisia, as well as a representative of the Swiss humanitarian aid body.
