March 2, 2011 - TAP - Mr. Philippe de Fontaine Vive, deputy chairman of the European Investment Bank (EIB), said that his visit in Tunisia, on March 2-3, aims to identify, with the Tunisian authorities, "the most concrete, most rapid and most job-creating" projects.
The aim being "to lend a listening ear to the Tunisians' needs and reassert confidence of the European Union in the prospects of Tunisia's development," he said to Tunis Afrique Presse (TAP) News Agency, at the end of the meeting he had, on Wednesday in Tunis, with Mr. Béji Caid Essebsi, the new Caretaker Premier.
Mr. De Fontaine Vive added that "talks with the concerned ministries and representatives of civil society are to help establish the order of priorities for a greater support of EIB, but also the other European agencies'."
"We will not dictate on Tunisia programmes devised in Luxembourg. Before anything else, we must make sure that the projects we have in mind coincide with the Tunisian priorities," he insisted.
