Interim Prime Minister examines with UN officials situation of refugees

March 9, 2011- TAP - Messrs. Antonio Guterres, High Commissioner for refugees (HCR) and William Lacy Swing, General-Director of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) commended the solidarity burst shown by Tunisia, government, people and army towards the thousands of refugees coming from Libya.
During their meeting, on Wednesday March 9, 2011afternoon in Tunis, with Interim Government Prime Minister Béji Caïd Essebsi, they asserted their organizations’ readiness to support Tunisia, which opened "its borders and its heart" to thousands of refugees, in order to face up the situation in the Tunisian-Libyan border.
Besides, they voiced their commitment to mobilize the international community's efforts to provide the necessary assistance to Tunisia and work out all means to speed up the evacuation of the refugees and guarantee their repatriation in the shortest term.
In another connection, the talks provided the opportunity to the Interim Prime Minister to examine with his guests means to re-integrate the Tunisian nationals coming back from Libya in the socio-economic life.
