U.S. pays tribute to Tunisia for efforts made on Tunisian-Libyan border

March 10, 2011 - TAP - Public Health Minister Habiba Ben Romdhane conferred, on Thursday in Tunis, with Assistant Secretary of State for Population, Refugees and Migration Eric Schwartz, who was accompanied by Mrs. Nancy Lindborg, USAID Assistant Administrator for Democracy, Conflict and Humanitarian Assistance.
The meeting was an opportunity to exchange views on ways to further bring under control the health situation in the refugee camp on the Tunisian-Libyan border.
Mr. Eric Schwartz paid tribute to Tunisia for the efforts made by the Government and people of Tunisia to alleviate the sufferings of refugees.
He praised, in this regard, the services provided to refugees at the health, social and humanitarian levels, expressing his country's readiness to support these efforts.
For her part, the Public Health Minister placed emphasis on the need to speed up the repatriation of foreign nationals who continue to flow each day to Tunisia, in order to be able to receive newcomers under best conditions.
