Algeria grants Tunisia 100-million-dollar financial aid

March 16, 2011 - Algeria granted a 100-million-dollar financial assistance to Tunisia. The decision was announced by Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika when receiving, on Tuesday in Algiers, Interim Prime Minister Béji Caid Essebsi, an informed source from the prime ministry said.
According to the same source, this aid is distributed as follows:
  • 10 million dollars under the shape of a donation,
  • 40 million dollars under the shape of an advantageous loan repayable over 15 years, with a 5-year grace period, at 1-per-cent interest rate and
  • 50 million dollars to be deposited in Tunisia's Central Bank, without added interest on the deposited sum.
