Netherlands ready to back up Tunisia

March. 16, 2011 - TAP - Dutch European Affairs and International Cooperation Minister Ben Knapen, currently on a working visit in Tunisia, expressed his country's readiness to open up new prospects for co-operation with Tunisia, notably in such fields of Dutch expertise like agriculture and food industry.
During the meeting he had on Wednesday with Planning and International Co-operation Minister Abdelhamid Triki, Mr. Knapen pointed out that his visit was part of his country's interest in Tunisia's transition to democracy and getting to know about the country's immediate needs, in order to consolidate this process.
Mr. Triki stressed, on the occasion, the priorities of Tunisia's transition stage, particularly at the economic level and efforts to be made to achieve the hoped-for revival of the national economy.
The Dutch guest expressed consideration for the solidarity shown by the Tunisian citizens and civil society, at the Tunisian-Libyan border zones, in dealing with pressures and hardships resulting from the flow of refugees of different nationalities.
