Caretaker Prime Minister receives President of European Parliament

March 17, 2011 - TAP - Caretaker Prime Minister Béji Caid Essebsi received, on Thursday in Tunis, President of the European Parliament Jerzy Buzek.
The latter said, after the meeting, that he had come to Tunisia to pay tribute to the Tunisian people's courage and determination and to their fight for human dignity.
He added: "I came to explore means to assist Tunisia at this stage of democratic transition", specifying that "democracy cannot be imposed from outside".
Mr. Buzek also said the European Parliament is ready to rephrase the neighbourhood policy with Tunisia and adapt bilateral co-operation to the new reality, the purpose being to guarantee "a better future for the Mediterranean".
"Together, we are able to build up a better future for the region", he stressed.
