March 17, 2011 - TAP - "We are waiting for the initiatives to be taken by Tunisia to support and keep pace with its future projects", said French Secretary of State in charge of External Trade Pierre Lellouche.
During a working session held on Thursday in Tunis with Minister of Industry and Technology Abdelaziz Rassaa, Mr. Lellouche stressed will to support "the Great Tunisian Revolution" which impacted the whole Arab and Mediterranean world and helped it succeed economically, more particularly in the area of industry.
He also said that it is France's duty to back up French companies established in Tunisia, especially as these firms have "a good impression on Tunisia" and wish to stay in the country.
Consultations are conducted to this effect with French companies through the MEDEF, the French employers' organization.
The French government seeks through successive visits of ministers and senior officials to bring support to Tunisia and assist its economic development, Mr. Lellouche added.
For his part, Mr. Rassaa said the priorities of the Tunisian government are regional development, employment and energy, announcing that several projects are under study.
He said that an economic revival plan is under consideration and will be launched shortly.
Representatives of French companies operating in Tunisia, who took part in this meeting, expressed readiness to support Tunisia in its different projects, particularly in the technological field.
