March 25, 2011  - TAP - Mr. Eric Besson, French Minister of Industry, Energy and Digital Economy said, on Friday, that his visit to Tunisia aims to enhance confidence between French and Tunisian industrialists to boost partnership in promising sectors, namely the textile and car industries.
He added at a news conference held at the end of his visit to Tunisia, that a French-Tunisian plan of action should be prepared in the areas of industry, energy and regional development.
Mr. Besson said Tunisia will take part in the power interconnection project in the Mediterranean (Medgrid) which aims to assess the possibility of creating a power network allowing sending to the North one part of the solar or wind energy power produced by the South.
The French official called upon Tunisia to draw inspiration from the initiative "Passport for Digital Economy" which represents, he said, an action designed to ease SMEs' access to information technology and the Internet.
Regarding regional development, Mr. Besson expressed France's will to bring support, through the French Development Agency (AFD), for the implementation of the "roadmap for regional development," underway in Tunisia.
An amount worth 150 million Euros (nearly 300 million dinars), he said, will be provided to Tunisia to finance the natural gas network extension project in the country's west.
Mr. Besson also voiced "optimism" at the future of Tunisian-French co-operation, describing as "fruitful" his talks with the Tunisian government officials.
