March 30, 2011 - TAP - "Press means freedom and responsibility; and this responsibility does not mean censorship but exercising the profession in accordance with the ethics of journalism", Interim Prime Minister Béji Caïd Essebsi said.
He also reasserted "absolute" support to the freedom of the press. "I am guarantor of this freedom", he stressed.
Mr. Caïd Essebsi, who had luncheon on Wednesday with representatives of the national press, underscored the need for the journalist to cross-check information before publishing it and also conciliating between personal convictions and responsibility. This attitude "does not in any way harm freedom of the journalist".

The event was attended by officials from the media institutions and journalists, as well as members of the National Authority for the Information and Communication Reform and the National Tunisian Journalists' Union.
