April 6, 2011 – TAP  - The Development of co-operation and partnership between the Higher Education and Scientific Research Ministry and German Consortium "Desertec Industrial Initiative" was the focus of the meeting Higher Education and Scientific Research Minister Refâat Châabouni had on Tuesday with a delegation of the consortium led by its Executive Director Paul Van Son.
The meeting also turned on means and ways to further boost co-operation and partnership between Desertec, on the one hand, and Tunisia's universities and research system, on the other.
The Minister voiced hope to establish a process of exchange for Tunisian university graduates and engineers to receive a six-month to one-year training in German companies so as to gain professional experience in the field of renewable energies.
He also expressed wish that co-operation with "Desertec" will result in a transfer of technologies for the benefit of Tunisia.
Mr. Paul Van Son said, for his part, that the Consortium aims to favour the development of renewable energies in Tunisia, while taking into consideration the industrial, technological and production aspects and job creation.
"Desertec Industrial Initiative" is a consortium made up of 50 German companies operating in several fields (industry, banking, research centres, consultancy...) and developing partnership relations with universities and research systems via the Desertec University Network (25 members), including four Tunisian universities.
