Solemn ceremony in Monastir on 11th anniversary of Leader Bourguiba's death

April 6, 2011 – TAP  - A solemn ceremony was held, on Wednesday at the "El Bourguiba Mausoleum" in Monastir, to commemorate the 11th anniversary of Leader Habib Bourguiba's death.
Interim President of the Republic Foued Mebazaa laid, on the occasion, a wreath of flowers at the bottom of the late leader's mausoleum.
The interim President, escorted by Interim PM Béji Caïd Essebsi and Government members, recited the Fatiha in memory of Habib Bourguiba.
Several national figures were present at the ceremony, as well as former freedom-fighters and activists of the national Liberation Movement.
Mr. Mebazaa, together with the Prime Minister, then became acquainted with the different components of the museum within the mausoleum, which houses documents and photographs that relate the high peaks of the late leader's career, as well as a collection of his personal objects.
The ceremony was also attended by a large number of citizens from Monastir and other regions of the country, who waved the national flag and portraits of the former leader, chanting slogans to Tunisia's glory and to the Tunisian people's freedom and also voicing loyalty to Leader Bourguiba.
