Chief of Staff of Qatari Armed Forces commends Tunisia's efforts to assist refugees from Libya

April 7, 2011 – TAP  - Chief of Staff of the Qatari Armed Forces Hamad Ben Ali el-Atia commended, on Thursday, the efforts exerted by Tunisia to help refugees fleeing violence in Libya.
The situation in the region, notably in light of the flow of refugees from various nationalities to the south of Tunisia fleeing Libya, was the focus of the meeting held between National Defense Minister Abdelkarim Zbidi and the Qatari military official, according to the National Defense Ministry.
During this meeting, the Qatari military official paid tribute to the National Army "for the efforts exerted to help host refugees of various nationalities" fleeing violence in Libya, by providing them with necessary medical and psychological assistance, in collaboration with international humanitarian organizations.
Chief of Staff Hamad Ben Ali el-Atia, who is heading a military delegation on a working visit to Tunisia, also discussed with the Defense Minister "prospects for developing Tunisian-Qatari relations and boosting bilateral co-operation in various fields, including the military one".
The two sides emphasized the need to strengthen military co-operation, particularly in the fields of training and exchange of expertise.
