April 8, 2011 – TAP  - The Tunisian Caretaker Government identified four axes according to which the World Bank (WB) could provide support to Tunisia, Mrs. Shamshad Akhtar, WB Deputy-Chairperson for the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.
At the end of her meeting, on Friday, with Interim Prime Minister Béji Caid Essebsi, Mrs. Akhtar specified that these axes consist in improving governance with a view to broadening people's participation in the process of Governmental decisions, developing means to energize employment, notably in the underprivileged regions, supporting the financial sector, through improvement of small- and medium-sized enterprises' access to financing and reinforcement of the micro-loans system, and developing such social services as health and education in the underprivileged areas.
Mrs. Akhtar, who was escorted by a WB Delegation, pointed out that her visit to Tunisia is meant to discuss with the Prime Minister WB's contribution to the caretaker Government's action.
The talk was attended by Planning and International Co-operation Minister Abdelhamid Triki.
