OSCE Chairperson: Tunisia model for whole region that should not fail

April 16, 2011 - TAP - Foreign Minister Mohamed Mouldi Kéfi received, on Saturday in Tunis, a delegation of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) led by Lithuanian Foreign Minister and OSCE Chairperson-in-office Audronius Azubalis.
At the end of the meeting, Mr. Azubalis said that he is paying a friendship visit in Tunisia, a partner country of the OSCE.
He expressed the support of this International Organization to the Tunisian Revolution, describing it as "a model for the whole region that should not fail".
Mr. Azubalis voiced OSCE's readiness to provide expertise to Tunisia, particularly in organizing and supervising elections, devising a legal platform in the fields of human rights and media, and reforming the police and law-enforcement structures.
During the meeting, Mr. Mohamed Mouldi Kéfi commended OSCE's support to the Tunisian people's aspirations for democracy, freedom and dignity, underscoring the Caretaker Government's determination to mobilize necessary resources so as to promote political, economic, social, and cultural development of Tunisia.
The OSCE which includes 56 members, 6 Mediterranean partners and 5 Asian partners, aims to "favor dialogue and negotiation between East and West".
