Interim President announces revision of general statutes and internal rules of home security forces

April 18, 2011 – TAP  - Interim President Foued Mebazaa, on Monday, announced the decision to review the general statutes and internal rules of the home security forces to adjust them to the requirements of the coming stage.
The announcement was made at a ceremony held, in Carthage, on the celebration of the 55th anniversary of the creation of the home security forces.
During this ceremony, the Interim President granted promotions to several home security officers and staff.
He recited the Fatiha in the memory of martyrs of the Revolution among officers and staff of the home security forces who "lost their lives in the exercise of their noble duties to protect Tunisians and defend the homeland."
The Interim President called on the home security forces to "double efforts and vigilance and preserve the principles of the Republican system and the prestige of the State."
He also called for strengthening the gains of the Revolution, defending the sovereignty of the State and allegiance to Tunisia, embracing the principles of democracy and Human Rights and serving the nation with total integrity and impartiality.
The Caretaker President praised the great sacrifices and determination of the home security forces to preserve the nation's sovereignty and protect State institutions, restore security and reassure citizens by enforcing law and serving the public interest.
Mr. Mebazaa also reasserted the keenness to strengthen the material, social and psychological gains of the home security forces to ensure best conditions enabling them to accomplish their mission.
The ceremony was attended by Messrs. Lazhar Karoui Chebbi and Habib Essid, Ministers of Justice and the Interior in the Interim Government, respectively.
